Opinion: Relations back in town in a big way

What does the future hold for Britain as the UK is about to leave the European Union? Will Trump’s USA remains an ally or will the UK- US special relationship terminate? “I think if I were from Britain, I would probably want to go back to a different system. With me, Britain will always be treated fantastically well,” said U.S. President Donald Trump.   Well said enough, the United Kingdom and the United States of  America could be like two political siblings, wartime allies and NATO partners,  two nations that share a  similar world view.  It is common ground that according to the term “special relationship”, the two nations are bonded by a common tie, which dates back many years.   The term was first attributed to the two nations relationship by the UK's wartime prime minister, Winston Churchill during a lecture tour of the United  States in 1946 to describe the depth of Anglo-American friendship following World War II.  Special Rel...

Snap Election Theresa May, last April, told she needed a bigger mandate in order to have a “strong” support in the Brexit negotiations. She announced a snap election on 8 June.  This was an election that wasn’t supposed to happen. As she said, in September 2016, “I’ve been very clear that I think we need that period of time, that stability, to be able to deal with the issues that the country is facing and have that election in 2020”. Absolutely confident she will win It really seemed that this election was her chance to enhance her prime minister status quo. It was as she was saying “I’m Theresa May and I’m the best person to be a Prime Minister”. I would bet that she was totally sure that Tories can win a bigger majority in England . What really went wrong? The “strong and stable leadership” slogan of May campaign just failed to gain impre...
