Koukaki: Downtown in the heart of Athens

The district of Koukaki is located in the south-east side of Hill Filopappou in Athens. Koukaki borders on the regions of Petralona and Neos Kosmos,on  Kallithea and Petralona neighbourhood from the south,on the north of Plaka and the famous area of Acropolis.

 Main avenue in Koukaki, that separates Koukaki from Neos Kosmos is Syngrou and main streets are Drakou, Falirou, G.Olympiou, Veikou, Dimitrakopoulou and pretty well known Koukaki square.
Koukaki took it's name from a famous old manufacture of beds, named “Koukakis” that functioned in pre- war greek period, located in Syngrou avenue. Koukaki is well connected to public transport via metro, stops Acropolis and Syngrou - Fix,tram lines -Syntagma-SEF/Syntagma-Kolimvitirio-stops Vouliagmenis Avenue and Fix, buses 040, 550, Α2, Β2,Ε22,024, 106, 110, 126, 134, 135, 136, 137, 230, E2,E22 and yellow buses 1, 15,5. Koukaki is an artistic spot, it's a destination for a lot of interesting people, has several buildings and places to walk,coffee shops and galleries, and of course it isn't too far from downtown.
