Mets

Close to the centre of Athens, full of coffee bars and dining  hotspots, green landscapes especially in Mets, and enthusiastic visitors from all over the city, Pangrati and Mets are two of the most outstanding choices in  capital of Greece, Athens.

Pangrati is located near Hill Arditou, between  Avenue of Vasileos Konstantinou and Avenue Hymettus. Placed in the south-eastern of Athens,  Pangrati borders Kaisariani on Eastern, Vyron on the south, Kolonaki on the north, Hymettus and Metz. At the same time is in small distance from  the city center. The most well known street  is Avenue Hymettus. Pangrati  developed  mainly  during the post war period, when were  build  the majority of buildings. Nowadays is one of the most populated regions of Attica.

Mets, eastern district, is located between Zappeio and  Hill  Logginou.

Pangrati was named by Pagratios Iraklis or by god Pagratius.  Some hold the view that Pangrati derives from  a monk named, Pagratios, that lived in the region during Ottoman domination.

The name Mets derived from a beer hall,  near Illisos area, which  opened in 1872  by Charles Fix, son of  Bavarian Johann Karl Fuchs , founder of famous brewery. “Mets” also, was called  the city, of  the last battle of French- German war, in 1871, which  French, granted forcibly in Germany.

In Pangrati exist four main squares: Squares: Plastira, Proskopon, Varnava and Mesologiou. Νear to the main  parkland of the area, is found the famous road Arxelaou. You may visit  Square Proskopon, between  roads Pavsaniou, Arrianoy, Arxelaou and Vasileos Konstantinou. Try a pedestrian walk in the regional parkland, which was created in 1902 from  Spyros Merkouris.

For dinner and coffee you may visit: “Trigono” for tasty  flavours, delicious plates and  amazing concerts. Also, don't miss “Magemenos Avlos”, old hotspot of Manos Chatzidakis. There you may taste sublime tastes of meats  and exquisite plates of fish, fruits, vegetables, lovely sweets and delicacies. You will admire the  formidable painting of Epameinondas Daskalopoulos, which portrays Manos Chatzidakis, dining with his closest friends. Visit Chelsea Hotel to drink smoothies and drinks, listening to jazz music. You will taste substantial meal flavours and exquisite French Cuisine in  restaurant “Spondi”, in  square Varnava, behind Kallimarmaro. If you love theatre, in Pangrati, you may attend performances  in Coronet, Skrow Theater and Elissos. For  cinema lovers  there is cine Oasis. In War Museum, in the contribution of avenue Vasilisis Sofias and street Rizari,  are placing exhibitions, including Balkan Wars, World Wars Ι and II.

Mets

Near Pagrati, is situated Mets. Mets, nice, peaceful  and full of greenery, is an area of distinctive character. You will admire impessive neoclassic residences, you may walk in the beautiful green paths and quiet pedestrian zones. Mets is an artistic neighborhood in the centre of Athens. Many  artists are dwelling in Mets. The area is closely to the city centre  and at the same time is a totally quiet discreet. You may walk through green small streets and rest your self  or  admire the view in plenty of nice benches. You may choose  traditional products in grocery stores, like in Arximidous and Markou Mousourou street. In hill Logginou, existing  a  popular relaxing park, where you will enjoy walking  paths.The famous  hill has playground for your children and  also  basketball court. Well known in Mets  is  Panathinaeum Stadium or Kallimarmaro, which is located in the eastern of Zappeion  and in the north of  Hill  Ardittou.

Mets

For your coffee you may visit  “Odeon”, which opens from early in the morning up to late in  the evening. Odeon is an arstistic spot that plays mainly jazz music. Half Note, is the absolute jazz hangout spot, in Trivonianou road. With plenty of musical choices,  artists spot and a 35 years tradition in live musical performances, Half Note is synonymous with Athens nightlife.  For appetizing  flavours, very tasty and well cooked home- made dishes you do not omit to visit “Olympion ” in street Anapafseos.

If  you would wish artistic nights, in the region of Mets, cultural and athletic association “Ardittos” organises projections of films, theatrical representations, literary clubs, concerts, narrations of fairy tales, bazaars, numerous artistic exhibitions.
