Saronikos and Argolikos Gulf constitute geographically the region, which is called Argosaronic - Gulf. The name of the Saronic Gulf derives from the ancient King of Troizinia, Saron.
The Saronic Gulf, which is also called the Gulf of Aegina, is linked on the west to the Gulf of Corinth (Korinthiakos) by the Corinth Canal. On the north of the gulf sits the coast of Athens.
