Relaxing and beautiful Poros island

Poros, one of the most popular islands of the Saronic Gulf, is a destination ideal for relaxing and enjoying wonderful holidays.

 
Poros is a beautiful island surrounded by greeny and beautiful natural environment. In Poros island you will enjoy summer moments of pleasure and moments of relaxation.

Ferry boats depart from Piraeus port daily (duration 2 hours) and flying dolphins (duration 1 hour) and also, ferries departing from Galatas to Poros.

In ancient years, Poros consisted of two islands, Sfairia, named by Sfairos, and Kalavria. The island was named "Poros" because between the two islands there is a narrow passage (greek meaning poros). The most famous resorts of the island are traditional area of Poros, Kanali, Askeli and Neorion.
The island is full of modern bars and restaurants. You will enternain yourself with trekking, mountain biking walking by the seaside or sailing and water activities.

For your entertainment and  enjoyment there are many attractions you may visit: Archaeological Museum, situated in Korizi Square, Zoodochou Pigi Monastery (18th century), Hatzopoulios Municipal Library, where are organized cultural exhibitions, “Palia Chora", Saint George Cathedral, Public Library, buildings of  impressive architecture, such as  Deimizis house, Grivas shop and Villa Galini , Diavologefiro, a famous area of wild beauty, the ruins of the 

Russian Dockyard, the ancient Trizina, Royal Tombs of Magoula, “Lemon Forest", a spectacural green area, full of lemon, orange trees and water mills e.tc. Also, you may visit Temple of Poseidon and the island of Bourtzi.

If  you visit the island the first ten days of July, every two years, is celebrated sailors week. For swimming and sunbathing visit sandy beach"Kanali" , "Askeli” within a beach volley court, "Monastery”- crystal clear waters and restaurants-, "Vagionia", organized sandy beach for all types of fishing, "Russian Dockyard”, “Neorion” - surrounded by pine trees, romantic beach “Love little Port”, "Perlia” for fresh fish," Plaka "and “Alikes” "in the area of Lemon Forest.
